A Busy Fall

Image

As we get closer to winter I start to appreciate the fall colours and mild weather more and more. We've had a couple snow falls that excited our students into building snowmen and castles on our top field and our signs of wild life are getting less frequent. Winter is coming!

New Blewett Elementary Sign: We have received our new entrance sign for the school. It looks fabulous! Installation should be complete by next week. Pictures to come!

Halloween was a big hit! Thank you BPAC for organizing this great family event. We had great feedback from families. The fire works are always a hit!

Remembrance Day Ceremony : We had our Remembrance Day ceremony on Nov 8th. All students and staff participated.  Ms. Walker and Ms Kalabis/Nelson, and Mr. Hammerich each had students reciting poems and singing songs for the assembly.

FSA Update: Our grade 4 students are close to completing the Foundational Skills Assessment.  They found it challenging and and                interesting at the same time.  Results will be out in early December.

Circle of Courage: Our latest assembly focused on the four principles of the Circle of Courage (belonging, generosity, mastery,                        independence). We also introduced our new “Courage Cards” that are distributed when students demonstrate these principles on their own accord.

Gaga Ball:  A big shout out to BPAC for the new Gaga Ball court! There was a lot of excitement for the first week of use. We so appreciate Tom and Avery Bristow and Thomas Lutz coming in on a rainy Saturday to assemble the court. Thanks Everyone!

Multi Age Activity: Our first multi-age activity was on Wednesday, Nov 13. The theme of this activity is “Belonging”. Classes read the story “The Circles Around Us” and participated in activities that got students thinking about what helps them feel they belong at our school.

Winter Concert Info:  We are excited to have families come and enjoy a winter concert again this year. On December 17th (Tuesday) at 6:00pm, families are invited to join us in the gymnasium of BES. There will be a whole school finale at the end so please do not leave after your child performs with their class unless its necessary. This is also a fund raising event to help families in need. A donation box will be at the door for those who are able to give.
