Happy New Year!

Date: Jan 9-13

Happy 2023!

It’s great to see the smiling faces of the kids as they return from the holidays to the routines of school. We at BES would like to thank all the parents and local businesses who have been a part of making our school so great. We are extremely grateful for your contributions, doanations, volunteering and more. It really does take a village.

We are starting our winter activities this week which include outdoor play, cross country skiing for the primary kids, and down hill skiing for the grade 4-6 students. Please be sure to send your kids with a little extra food as the extra activity often makes them hungry.

I'd like to also welcome back two teachers, Sarah Wood (gr 2-3 and prep) and Stephanie Connelly (K-1), who are no strangers to the BES community. We're excited to have them as part of the Blewett team. New to our staff is Olivia Castiglione. Ms. "C" will be taking on a part time role as part of our inclusion support team. Welcome!

Have a great week !

Jordon Konken

District and Community Events and Announcements:

DPAC:

The Kootenay Lake DPAC and the Kootenay-Columbia DPAC have the opportunity to bring the Advocacy 101 seminar to all parents/guardians in our districts on January 16th 2023, over zoom.

Is something bothering you about your child’s education? Many parents don’t know where to begin when their child encounters a problem at school. The Advocacy 101 presentation will provide parents with information on where to go for help and walk parents through common scenarios for a better understanding of the policies and processes used within the Kootenay Lake School District and Kootenay-Columbia District.  With over 20 years providing advocacy support to parents, Susan Wilson brings her experience and humour to this interactive and informative presentation.

We have had many requests that we run this seminar and are pleased to announce that we have seminar scheduled for Monday January 16th at 6 pm.  This seminar usually runs for approximately 90 minutes.

These seminars are free to all parents/guardians in both districts and if you have attended in the past you are welcome to attend again.

If you would like to attend this seminars please send an email to sd8dpac@gmail.com and we will register you and get you the handouts for this session and the zoom link.

Sincerely,

SD8 DPAC and SD 20 DPAC

DPAC Kootenay Lake is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
