Good day Everyone. I hope you’re enjoying the snow because it seems there is lots more coming our way! With the snow comes lots of creative winter activities from building snow structures to avalanche awareness activities.

Mr. Hammerich’s class had the opportunity this week to work with Oscar White from Avalanche Canada. Students learned about dangerous snow conditions and basic life saving techniques in avalanche situations. The students had fun using probes and shovels in team activities to develop their avalanche awareness.

Remembrance Day

This year's Remembrance Day ceremony was a very special event. It was great to see students and staff come together to remember those that sacrificed their freedom for others. Ms. Walker's gr 2/3 class sang a beautiful song called "Peace Like a River" While Mr. Hammerich's and Mr. Wheeler's classes came together to sing an old favourite Beatles song "All we Need is Love". Great job everyone. I was very impressed with our students in being respectful and reflective during our moment of silence.

Halloween and Winter!

Halloween Scare!

This last week was a lot of fun for the kids. I’d like to thank all the parents and volunteers who helped put on the Halloween Haunted House at the NDYC last Saturday. It was a scary treat! The students showed up to school on Monday with some great costumes and creative pumpkin carvings. Congratulations to the winners of the carving contest who received a certificate, ribbon, and hot chocolate for best pumpkin.

Indigenous Veterans Day - November 8

November 8th is a day marked to honour the contributions of Indigenous Peoples to the Canadian Military.

"Did you know that First Nations served in the Canadian Military at a higher rate than any other group in this great nation? More than 4,000 Indigenous people served Canada in the First World War. In fact, First Nations, Inuit and Métis people served Canada in all the great conflicts and peace support missions of the 20th century." Halloween Fun

Date: Oct 22-28

Good day Folks,

As my daughter says: Halloween is the best "holiday" of the year. Our first Halloween occasion in three years was a hit! Families from the community enjoyed games, dancing, and cake walks, and, of course, the fireworks finale was amazing. Thank you to all the families and businesses who donated to the occasion, and thank you to the volunteers, fire department, PAC, and students who helped make it a night for kids to remember.

Sports are Back!

Date: Oct 17-21

Well, we’re still in the heart of fall and the sun just keeps on shining. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend with lots of food and family connections. And speaking of food, I’d like to say thanks to all the parent volunteers that have been chipping in to help with our hotlunch program, This program helps raise funds for a variety of PAC initiatives and more importantly, it keeps kids fed with options that ultimately promote health and learning!
