Spring has finally sprung! There is no surer sign that the seasons have changed than the beginning of eight weeks of training for our annual Reconciliation Run Walk Wheel taking place in all SD8 schools in June.

Happy spring!

This week we were honoured to have Joan Exley from CBAL come in to our school to work with the parents of our gr 1/2 students. Joan provided kits and games to help young readers gain a passion for reading. After a short lesson for the parents, students joined Mom and Dad for reading, games, and activities. Thank you, Joan!

This past month has been a flurry of physical, intellectual, social and emotional learning in our six families of schools as students engaged in activities that stretched their skills, and exercised their understanding, leading us toward our upcoming spring break from March 18 to April 1.

It's been a busy January/February. Our grade 4,5,6 classess participated in the district volleyball tournament at Hume Elementary School.  Students tried their best, had fun, and showed lots of sportsmanship. Way to go BES!

Happy February,

As we move into February we're already looking into next year's enrollment projections. If you know of any new families that are of kindergarten age, please let them know to register as soon as possible.

We are nearing the 100th day of school and in primary grades, this is an important day of learning! All of our students are about halfway through the year, many have begun second semester, and everyone is in full learning mode in their classrooms, outdoors and in their communities.

Midwinter is upon us - a time when SD8 students and educators look forward to sharing and showing what children have learned and the talents they have developed in the first half of the school year.

We are proud to introduce our student leaders from Ms. Nelson's grade six group (see below for more pics). These talented students will be a part of developing ideas for fun activities that fall in line with our school motto of, "A place for everyone".
